Mostly Jamey

These pictures are from Jamey's last day of school. He is now a senior....and a very happy boy! I made him stand still so I could get some pictures of him.Jamey and Renee. She's a short little thing. They make a cute couple.
See?
Tony got Jamey an end-of-school present, which he is watching him open.
Tony seems a little confused as to the proper use of them.
Impressive! (He can actually do a lot.)
Whew! Cooling down. (He's a clown)
This is the face of a guy who doesn't want the camera pointed at him.
And this is a very happy mama and her littlest. Aren't they sweet?
Sorry...I had to get a couple of grandchildren in this group :-) I liked this one of Inge.

Happy Birthday, Lewis!

Lewis opened his presents from his parents at the beach, opened our presents when they came back from the beach, and I imagine he has gifts from his Grammy and Grandpa to open at home! He made out like a bandit this year. Here he is in camouflage helmet with his weapons - presents from his folks.
I like this picture of Claire and Mona.
Many years ago, I started the tradition of giving some small something to siblings when a brother or sister had a birthday, and now that we have grandchildren, we are doing the same thing. It will continue until they get a little older. Here Nelly is trying to get into the pack of Altoids gum that was in her bag. It presented quite the challenge for her. I mainly chose this picture because it is so good of Tappa.
Nelly, wearing her new wooden beads....still working on that gum.
The obvious choice of present for Inge - vases to put her flowers in. She would have loved her Great-Great-Grandmommy's garden!
Ah, this sword. I loved this sword, even though it was plastic. When I picked it up in the store to examine it, it clanged at me, as though I had struck another sword. And when I moved it again, it whooshed, as though it was cutting through air. Such a sword! I couldn't leave it behind and so it got bought. It took Lewis a little while to really appreciate the finer points of it, though.
Now here's a present to warm a boy's heart! Shiny armor, shiny swords. It wouldn't stay in the store, either.
Here he is, all decked out.
And here is Claire and Peter's friend Anoma, crossing swords with him.
How old are you, Lewis?
These candles posed a bit of problem. Someone needs to teach him to focus his breath. There were 5 candles on the cake, and it took at least 8 blows to get them all extinguished. Inge was having a hard time refraining from helping, I think. She did a great job, leaving it to him to get them all blown out.
Looking forward to the cupcakes.
No one can enjoy cake like a baby!

Beach Time

Last Sunday, after morning church, Tony and I drove down to the coast to spend the rest of the day and Monday with the kids. It was a very fun time. We got a couple of good walks with the family. The weather was windy, but lovely. It was nice to get back down there.

Here is Mona - or MoMo, as she calls herself, walking on the sand. This little girl is so cute. There doesn't seem to be any timidity about her. Peter and Claire call her a disaster-not-waiting-to-happen....or maybe a disaster-in-progress. Where Mona goes, things happen. Like the time Peter caught her pouring a glass of water on a floor outlet into which a lamp was plugged. Fortunately, he grabbed her away and we were able to get it mopped up without getting electrocuted! Mona is the one to just take off traveling, probably hoping to evade capture, and you'd best be alert to retrieve her before she can escape out an open door. She reminds me of Janice as a toddler.
Inge loves the sand!

Peter and Mona. Peter is wearing the new polarized sunglasses that Claire got him for Father's Day. Pretty cool looking. :-)
Nelly, getting ready to jump off the deck

Lewis, squinting in the sun.

Here is Mona, taking it easy after being outdoors. By the time I noticed her, she was ready to get up and was trying to roll out of the chair, but I managed to catch this picture of her, not in motion.
Rose surprised her dad (and me) with a visit for Father's Day

Monday was a perfect day for lying out on the sand.
I think Inge might have preferred to be directly on the sand. She kept piling it on her towel. Lewis, getting his nest made. He didn't want help. I offered.

Sitting on the deck discussing something.
One of the necessary activities while at the coast, Claire tells me, is to sit on the deck and read PG Wodehouse together. This is the setting for that very pleasant method of passing the time. When I wasn't taking pictures, I was lying on the sand below, alternately snoozing and chuckling at the story.

That's all for tonight. Hopefully by tomorrow or Tuesday, I can get the rest of the pictures from their visit posted.

Inge

As indicated below, I took pictures of all the children while they talked to me because I wanted to capture a range of facial expressions. This lovely and enthusiastic young lady is preparing to tell me about all the flowers she picked earlier in the day.

I love these last two pictures of her.
